APPLE HAM SALAD

Apple Ham Salad image

This is a really delicious salad. Great way of using up apples and that last bit of ham in the fridge. It was adapted from The Best of Country Cooking. Cooking time is time spent in the fridge. You may also want to add a finely minced garlic clove.

Time 1h20m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 cups chopped up apples (I've used NZ Beauty)

2 tablespoons green onions, chopped

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

Steps:

  • Mix everything together with salt and pepper to taste and chill for about 1 hour.
  • Eat.
  • If you like, you may double the oil and vinegar amount.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: Use firm, crisp apples that will hold their shape when mixed with the other ingredients. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all good choices.
  • Don't overcook the ham: Overcooked ham will be tough and dry. Cook it just until it is heated through.
  • Use a good quality mayonnaise: Mayonnaise is the base of the dressing, so it's important to use a good quality mayonnaise that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Add some crunch: To add some crunch to the salad, you can add some chopped celery, carrots, or walnuts.
  • Season to taste: Be sure to season the salad to taste with salt and pepper. You may also want to add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little bit of heat.

Conclusion:

Apple ham salad is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for lunch or dinner. It is also a great way to use up leftover ham. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a delicious and satisfying meal that the whole family will enjoy.
