Categories     Fruit Juice     Chicken     Kid-Friendly     Apple     Summer     Grill/Barbecue     Bon Appétit     Missouri     Small Plates

Yield Serves 4

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 6-ounce can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup catsup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dried thyme, crumbled
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco)
1 3-pound chicken, cut into 4 pieces
Vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Combine first 6 ingredients in heavy small saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  • Prepare barbecue (medium-high heat). Brush chicken with oil. Season generously with salt and pepper. Grill until chicken is almost cooked through, turning occasionally, about 20 minutes. Brush with glaze and continue grilling until chicken is tender and cooked through, brushing chicken frequently with glaze and turning occasionally, about 10 minutes longer.

Tips:

  • Use a high-quality apple cider vinegar: This will give your chicken a delicious, tangy flavor.
  • Don't overcook the chicken: Overcooked chicken will be dry and tough. Cook it until it is just cooked through, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the chicken rest before serving: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the chicken, resulting in a more flavorful and tender dish.
  • Serve with your favorite sides: Apple-glazed barbecued chicken is delicious served with mashed potatoes, green beans, or coleslaw.

Conclusion:

Apple-glazed barbecued chicken is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you're cooking for a weeknight dinner or a backyard barbecue, this chicken is sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a new chicken recipe, give this one a try.
