MICHAEL'S GIN FIZZ

Categories     beverage

Time 5m

Yield 1 cocktail

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 ounces gin, such as Old Tom Gin
2 ounces half-and-half
1 ounce simple syrup
3 small dashes orange flower water
2 drops vanilla extract, optional
1 egg white
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Juice of 1/2 lime
Ice
3 ounces seltzer water

Steps:

  • Cook's Note: Orange flower water is available at better liquor stores and Middle Eastern markets. Be very careful when adding this to your cocktail as it can easily overwhelm the flavors in this delicious drink.
  • Add the gin, half-and-half, simple syrup, orange flower water, vanilla if using, egg white and lemon and lime juices in a cocktail shaker. Shake vigorously for 3 minutes, or blend with an immersion blender until frothy, about 20 seconds. Pour into an ice-filled highball glass, and top with the seltzer water.
  • Food Network Kitchens suggest caution in consuming raw and lightly-cooked eggs due to the risk of Salmonella or other food-borne illness. To reduce this risk, we recommend you use only fresh, properly-refrigerated, clean, grade A or AA eggs with intact shells, and avoid contact between the yolks or whites and the shell. For recipes that call for eggs that are raw or undercooked when the dish is served use shell eggs that have been treated to destroy Salmonella, by pasteurization or another approved method.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples: For the best flavor, use crisp and tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • Use fresh apple cider: Fresh apple cider adds a delicious sweetness and depth of flavor to the cocktail. If you can't find fresh apple cider, you can use apple juice, but it won't be as flavorful.
  • Make sure your gin is chilled: Using chilled gin will help to create a refreshing and smooth cocktail.
  • Add a splash of lemon juice: A splash of lemon juice will help to balance out the sweetness of the apples and gin.
  • Don't over-shake the cocktail: Over-shaking the cocktail will make it frothy and less refreshing. Shake the cocktail just until the ingredients are combined.

Conclusion:

The Apple Gin Fizz is a delicious and refreshing cocktail that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be customized to your liking. Whether you prefer it sweet, tart, or somewhere in between, the Apple Gin Fizz is sure to please. So next time you're looking for a delicious and refreshing cocktail, give the Apple Gin Fizz a try. You won't be disappointed!
