Number Of Ingredients 12

1 quart(s) tomato puree'
1 pint(s) water
2/3 cup(s) worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup(s) apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup(s) vegetable oil
8 ounce(s) onion, chopped fine
4 teaspoon(s) minced garlic
2 ounce(s) sugar
1 tablespoon(s) dry mustard
1 teaspoon(s) black pepper
1 cup(s) apple juice
to taste - salt

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer about 20 minutes, until slighty reduced and flavors are well blended. Stir occasionally during cooking so the sauce does not scorch on the bottom.
  • Ajust seasoning.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples. Different apples will impart different flavors to your sauce. For a sweeter sauce, use sweeter apples like Honeycrisp or Gala. For a more tart sauce, use Granny Smith or Braeburn apples.
  • Don't peel the apples. The skins of apples contain pectin, which helps to thicken the sauce. Peeling the apples will remove the pectin and make the sauce thinner.
  • Cook the sauce low and slow. This will allow the flavors to develop and deepen.
  • Add a little bit of smoke. A touch of smoke will add a nice depth of flavor to the sauce. You can smoke the sauce in a smoker, or you can add a few drops of liquid smoke to the pot.
  • Experiment with different spices. There are many different spices that you can add to apple-flavored BBQ sauce. Some popular choices include cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves.

Conclusion:

Apple-flavored BBQ sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of foods. It's perfect for grilled meats, chicken, and fish. It can also be used as a dipping sauce for appetizers or as a glaze for roasted vegetables. With its sweet and tangy flavor, apple-flavored BBQ sauce is sure to please everyone at your next cookout.
