Tips:

  • Use fresh apples: Fresh apples provide the best flavor and texture for monkey bread. Choose firm, crisp apples that will hold their shape when baked.
  • Peel and core the apples: Peeling and coring the apples is essential for creating uniform pieces of apple that will bake evenly.
  • Cut the apples into small pieces: Cutting the apples into small pieces will help them to cook evenly and will also make it easier to assemble the monkey bread.
  • Use a variety of apples: Using a variety of apples will give your monkey bread a more complex flavor. Try using a combination of sweet and tart apples, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Gala.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the monkey bread tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the monkey bread until it is golden brown: The monkey bread is done baking when it is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Serve the monkey bread warm or at room temperature: Monkey bread is best served warm or at room temperature. It can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
