Tips:

  • Choose the right type of sweet potatoes. For this recipe, it's best to use firm, starchy sweet potatoes, such as Garnet or Jewel varieties. These types of sweet potatoes will hold their shape better when cooked.
  • Use fresh apple cider. Fresh apple cider will give your sweet potatoes the best flavor. If you can't find fresh apple cider, you can use unsweetened apple juice instead.
  • Don't overcook the sweet potatoes. Overcooked sweet potatoes will be mushy and bland. Cook them until they are tender but still slightly firm.
  • Serve the sweet potatoes immediately. Sweet potatoes are best served immediately after they are cooked. If you need to make them ahead of time, you can reheat them in the oven or microwave.
