Time 1h5m

Yield 36 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups apples, chopped
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 cup butterscotch chips

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla in large bowl.
  • Mix in flour, baking powder, soda, salt and cinnamon and mix well. Stir in apples and nuts.
  • Spread in a lightly greased 13"x9" pan; sprinkle with butterscotch chips.
  • Bake at 350 degrees 40-45 minutes.
  • Makes about 3 dozen depending upon how big you cut them.

Tips:

  • For the perfect butterscotch layer, use light or dark brown sugar and butter in equal amounts. These two simple ingredients are the foundation of a rich and flavorful butterscotch filling.
  • To ensure an evenly baked treat, use room temperature butter and eggs. This will help the ingredients blend together smoothly and create a uniform batter.
  • Do not overmix the batter, as this can result in a tough and dense bar. Mix just until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Be patient when baking these bars. The butterscotch layer needs time to set properly, so do not rush the process. Allow the bars to cool completely before cutting and serving.
  • For a special touch, sprinkle chopped nuts or dried fruits over the batter before baking. This will add extra texture and flavor to your bars.

Conclusion:

With their sweet and gooey butterscotch filling sandwiched between layers of soft and chewy oat crumb crust, these apple butterscotch bars are a delightful treat that is sure to impress. Perfect for potlucks, bake sales, or simply as a sweet snack at home, these bars are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser.
