Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 large red delicious apple, cubed
1 large golden delicious apple , cubed
1 c sliced fresh strawberries
1/3 c celery, sliced
1/4 c chopped toasted almonds
1/2 c lemon yogurt
1/2 c frozen whipped dessert topping

Steps:

  • 1. In a bowl, combine apples, berries, celery and nuts. Thaw topping and stir with yogurt. Fold into fruit mixture; cover and chill well. Makes 4 servings.

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples. Firm, crisp apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp hold their shape well in a salad. Avoid soft, mealy apples like Red Delicious or McIntosh.
  • Cut the apples into uniform pieces. This will help them cook evenly. If you're using a mandoline, be sure to use the safety guard.
  • Don't overcook the apples. They should be tender but still have a bit of a bite.
  • Use a variety of berries. This will give your salad a more complex flavor and texture. Some good choices include blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries.
  • Add some nuts or seeds for crunch. Walnuts, pecans, almonds, and sunflower seeds are all good options.
  • Dress the salad with a light vinaigrette. This will help to bring out the flavors of the apples and berries.
  • Serve the salad immediately. Apple and berry salads are best enjoyed fresh.

Conclusion:

Apple berry salad is a delicious and refreshing way to enjoy the flavors of fall. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. Try experimenting with different types of apples, berries, nuts, and seeds to create a salad that you'll love.
