Steps:
- Combine the apple slices, raisins, drained pineapple and sprinkle with the lemon and pineapple juices.
- Toss lightly with a mixture of 1/8 C each of white and brown sugar and 1/4 t of cinnamon.
- Put into a large casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
- In a medium size bowl (while the apples are starting their cooking), mix the dry crumb topping ingredients together, then moisten with the melted butter.
- Top the apple mixture with the crumb topping and bake for another 30-35 minutes.
Tips:
- Choose the right apples: Use a variety of apples that will hold their shape when baked, such as Granny Smith, Braeburn, or Honeycrisp.
- Don't overmix the crumble topping: A coarse, crumbly topping will add texture and flavor to the dish.
- Use fresh raisins: Dry raisins can be tough and chewy, so plump them up in hot water before adding them to the filling.
- Don't skip the lemon juice: It adds a bit of brightness and acidity to the filling, which balances out the sweetness of the apples and raisins.
- Serve the crumble warm: Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra special treat.
Conclusion:
Apple and raisin crumble is a classic dessert that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With its sweet and tangy filling, crunchy topping, and warm, comforting flavor, it's the perfect dessert to enjoy on a cold night. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy dessert, give this apple and raisin crumble recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
