Tips:

  • Use cold butter: Cold butter creates flaky layers in the scones. If the butter is too warm, it will make the dough greasy and the scones will be tough.
  • Do not overwork the dough: Overworking the dough will make the scones tough. Mix the ingredients just until they come together.
  • Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough helps to develop the flavor and makes the scones easier to handle.
  • Bake the scones in a hot oven: A hot oven will help the scones to rise quickly and evenly.
  • Brush the tops of the scones with milk before baking: This will help the scones to brown and give them a glossy finish.

Conclusion:

These apple and oat scones are a delicious and easy-to-make treat. They are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack. The scones are made with simple ingredients and can be easily adapted to suit your own taste. You can add different fruits, nuts, or seeds to the dough, or you can glaze the scones with a simple icing. No matter how you choose to make them, these scones are sure to be a hit!
