Tips:

  • Use a variety of apples for a more complex flavor. Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn are all good choices.
  • Be sure to peel and core the apples before slicing them. This will help to prevent the strata from becoming too mushy.
  • Grate the cheese instead of shredding it. This will help it to melt more evenly throughout the strata.
  • If you don't have any bread cubes on hand, you can use day-old bread that has been torn into small pieces.
  • Be sure to grease the baking dish before you pour in the strata mixture. This will help to prevent it from sticking.
  • Bake the strata until it is golden brown and bubbly. This usually takes about 45 minutes.
  • Let the strata cool for a few minutes before serving. This will help it to set and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

Apple and cheddar strata is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast casserole that is perfect for special occasions or everyday brunches. It is also a great way to use up leftover bread and cheese. With its combination of sweet apples, sharp cheddar cheese, and fluffy bread, this strata is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
