ANNE'S LIP SMACKIN' SANGRIA

Anne's Lip Smackin' Sangria image

Years ago Mom compiled a family cook book for my eldest sister when she went off to college. What has become of the final version I don't know, needless to say its gone. However I've got Mom's notes. I'm attempting to save these recipes by posting them here. Any of Mom's special notes I'll include in parenthesis. But needless to say some of these are not complete recipes. Enjoy! I haven't made this in a long time so the yield and and cook times are based purely on my memories. *The prep time and cooking time do not include cooling times: usually about a hour.

Tips:

  • Choose the right wine. A good rule of thumb is to use a wine that you would enjoy drinking on its own. Some popular choices for sangria include red wines like Rioja or Cabernet Sauvignon, and white wines like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.
  • Use fresh fruit. The fresher the fruit, the better your sangria will taste. Some popular fruits to use in sangria include oranges, lemons, limes, strawberries, and peaches.
  • Add some sweetness. Sangria is traditionally made with a sweetener, such as sugar or honey. However, you can adjust the amount of sweetener to suit your taste.
  • Let it chill. Sangria is best served chilled. So, be sure to refrigerate it for at least an hour before serving.
  • Garnish with fresh fruit. When you're ready to serve your sangria, garnish it with some fresh fruit. This will add a pop of color and flavor to your drink.

Conclusion:

Sangria is a refreshing and delicious drink that is perfect for any occasion. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can make a pitcher of sangria that will impress your friends and family. So, next time you're looking for a fun and easy drink to make, give sangria a try!
