Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 3

4 lemons
1/2 cup dried lavender
1/2 cup raw honey

Steps:

  • Using a vegetable peeler, remove zest from two lemons, leaving white pith behind. Squeeze all of the lemons for 2/3 cup juice and set aside. In a large pot bring 5 1/2 cups of water and zest to a boil over high heat. Stir in the lavender. Partially cover the pot, lower the heat, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place a large strainer lined with cheesecloth or a damp paper towel over another pot or heat-proof bowl. Strain tea, pressing on herbs to extract all liquid. Stir in honey until dissolved. Stir in lemon juice. Let cool completely, about 45 minutes. Fill four tall glasses with ice. Pour tea over ice and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality lavender. Fresh or dried culinary lavender buds will give your lemonade the best flavor. Avoid using scented or potpourri lavender, as these can be toxic.
  • Make a lavender simple syrup. This is a great way to infuse your lemonade with lavender flavor. Simply combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and stir in lavender buds. Let steep for at least 30 minutes, then strain out the lavender buds.
  • Use fresh lemons. Freshly squeezed lemon juice will give your lemonade the best flavor. Avoid using bottled lemon juice, as it can be bitter.
  • Sweeten to taste. The amount of sugar you add to your lemonade is a matter of personal preference. Start with a small amount and add more to taste.
  • Serve chilled. Lavender lemonade is best served chilled. You can chill it in the refrigerator for at least an hour, or you can serve it over ice.

Conclusion:

Lavender lemonade is a refreshing and flavorful drink that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you are looking for a summer drink to cool you down or a party punch to serve at your next gathering, lavender lemonade is sure to be a hit.
