AMSTERDAM HIPPIE SOYMILK CHAI

Amsterdam Hippie Soymilk Chai image

Normally Chai has tea in it, but this beverage doesn't miss it at all. When I lived in Holland, this drink was a staple in the diet of a bunch of hippies who lived in and around a squatted building known as 'De Elf.' Sadly, the building was closed a year after I left the country, but if you combine the taste of this drink with the smell of musky smoke and Nag Champa incense, you're halfway to recreating the atmosphere. Enjoy...

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, use full-fat coconut milk instead of light coconut milk.
  • To make the chai ahead of time, simply combine all of the ingredients except the milk and honey in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Then, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain the chai and let it cool completely. Store the chai in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze it for up to 3 months.
  • To make a vegan version of this chai, use almond milk or oat milk instead of cow's milk.
  • If you don't have any cardamom pods, you can substitute 1/4 teaspoon of ground cardamom.
  • For a sweeter chai, add more honey to taste.

Conclusion:

This Amsterdam Hippie Soymilk Chai is a delicious and easy-to-make beverage that is perfect for any occasion.
