Tips:

  • For the perfect crust, use a combination of butter and shortening. This will create a flaky and tender crust.
  • Be sure to chill the dough before rolling it out. This will help to prevent the dough from shrinking in the oven.
  • When pre-baking the crust, use pie weights or dried beans to weigh down the crust. This will help to prevent the crust from bubbling up.
  • For the sugar cream filling, use a combination of granulated sugar and brown sugar. This will create a rich and flavorful filling.
  • Be sure to cook the filling until it has thickened. This will help to prevent the filling from being runny.
  • Top the pie with a lattice crust or a simple sprinkle of sugar before baking.
  • Allow the pie to cool completely before serving. This will help the filling to set.
