Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 c light corn syrup
3 large eggs
1 c sugar
2 Tbsp butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 c chopped pecans
3/4 c flaked coconut
3/4 c semisweet chocolate chips
1 prepared pie crust (9 inch deep dish)
cool whip, if desired, for topping before serving

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix the corn syrup, eggs, sugar, butter, and vanilla together with an electric mixer (on medium speed) until light-colored and well blended. Stir in the pecans and coconut by hand. Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the bottom of the prepared pie crust. Pour the corn syrup mixture over the chocolate chips.
  • 2. Bake in preheated oven until top is set, 55 to 60 minutes. Cool completely on a rack before serving. This takes about 2 hours. Serve with Cool Whip or whipped topping if desired. Store in refrigerator if you have any left-overs.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The quality of the chocolate you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your pie. Look for a high-quality semisweet or bittersweet chocolate that has a cocoa content of at least 60%.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter will make the pie tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the pie in a water bath: Baking the pie in a water bath will help to prevent the crust from cracking and the filling from curdling.
  • Let the pie cool completely before serving: The pie needs time to set before it is served. Let it cool completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

Conclusion:

Amish German Chocolate Pie is a delicious and decadent dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its rich chocolate flavor, creamy filling, and flaky crust, it is sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. Follow these tips to make the best Amish German Chocolate Pie: use high-quality chocolate, don't overmix the batter, bake the pie in a water bath, and let the pie cool completely before serving.
