Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients. This will make a big difference in the flavor of your doughnuts.
  • Make sure your yeast is active. If you're not sure, proof it in a little warm water with a pinch of sugar before using it.
  • Knead the dough until it is smooth and elastic. This will help to develop the gluten in the dough and make it chewy.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size. This will give the yeast time to work and produce gas, which will make your doughnuts light and fluffy.
  • Fry the doughnuts in hot oil. This will help to create a crispy crust and a soft, fluffy interior.
  • Drain the doughnuts on paper towels to remove excess oil. This will help to keep them from getting soggy.
  • Coat the doughnuts in sugar or glaze while they are still warm. This will help the coating to stick.
