Lemon slice, clear sanding sugar or edible glitter, and lemon twists (for serving; optional)
4 ounces crème de violette
2 ounces fresh clementine or orange juice
2 ounces fresh lemon juice
2 ounces gin
Champagne or sparkling wine (for serving; about 10 ounces)

Steps:

  • Rub half the rim of 4 stemmed glasses (preferably coupe glasses) with lemon slice and dip into sanding sugar, if using. Chill glasses until ready to use.
  • Combine crème de violette, clementine juice, lemon juice, and gin in a cocktail shaker. Fill shaker with ice, cover, and shake vigorously until outside of shaker is very cold, about 30 seconds. Strain into prepared glasses, top off with Champagne, and garnish with a lemon twist, if using.
  • Do Ahead
  • Cocktail base (without champagne) can be made 1 day ahead; cover and chill.

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality champagne: The better the champagne, the better the sparkle will taste. Look for a champagne that is at least Brut (dry) and has a good balance of acidity and sweetness.
  • Use fresh fruit: Fresh fruit will add a bright and vibrant flavor to your sparkle. Choose fruit that is in season and that you enjoy the taste of.
  • Make your own ice molds: If you don't have ice molds, you can easily make your own using a muffin tin or a plastic container. Just fill the molds with water and freeze them overnight.
  • Chill your champagne and fruit: Before you make your sparkle, be sure to chill your champagne and fruit. This will help to keep the sparkle cold and refreshing.
  • Garnish with mint or other herbs: A sprig of mint or other herbs will add a touch of freshness and flavor to your sparkle.
