AMAZING CHOCOLATE SAUCE

Amazing Chocolate Sauce image

This chocolate sauce has that WONDERFUL cooked chocolate taste (you all know what I'm talking about--really deep and almost on verge of burnt). It's great on ice cream, in milk, or drizzled on just about anything. I bet even old socks would taste good with this stuff poured over it.

Number Of Ingredients 6

3 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup sugar
1 12 oz. can evaporated milk ("pet" milk)
1 tsp vanilla extract
dash or two of salt

Steps:

  • 1. In heavy saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and cocoa. Stir.
  • 2. Remove from heat and add sugar, milk (make sure it's EVAPORATED milk...NOT sweetened condensed milk), vanilla and salt. Stir well.
  • 3. Return to heat and cook until desired thickness (less for thin syrup...longer for thick syrup). Time will depend on your stove and your preference. Make sure you stir it pretty much constantly...don't want it to burn on the bottom.
  • 4. Store in airtight container in fridge for up to a couple of weeks.

AMAZING CHOCOLATE DESSERT SAUCE

Amazing Chocolate Dessert Sauce image

This is from 'Donna Hay Simple Essentials - Chocolate' book and it is so wonderful. Easy, delicious and incredibly versatile. She calls it hot chocolate fudge sauce but I also use it to ice cupcakes when it is cold. Try it hot on vanilla ice cream or chocolate cake, or spread thickly on plain bickies [cookies] when it is cold. Anyone can make this in seconds!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate: The better the chocolate, the better the sauce will taste. Look for chocolate that is at least 70% cocoa solids.
  • Don't overheat the chocolate: Chocolate can seize if it is overheated. Be careful not to let the temperature of the chocolate exceed 115 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Add a little bit of salt: Salt can help to balance out the sweetness of the chocolate and make the sauce more complex.
  • Use a variety of flavors: You can add different flavors to your chocolate sauce by using different types of chocolate, spices, and extracts. For example, you could add chili powder for a spicy sauce, or vanilla extract for a classic flavor.
  • Experiment with different serving options: Chocolate sauce can be served on ice cream, cake, fruit, or even savory dishes like grilled chicken or fish.

Conclusion:

Chocolate sauce is a delicious and versatile ingredient that can be used in a variety of desserts and dishes. With so many different recipes to choose from, you're sure to find one that you love. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give chocolate sauce a try.
