1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
3 eggs
1 ½ cups sour cream
1 (15 ounce) can apricot halves, drained
1 tablespoon butter
½ cup slivered almonds
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
2 tablespoons milk
⅔ cup confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 10x15 inch jellyroll pan. Set aside 1/2 cup of the dry cake mix.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together eggs and sour cream. Stir in the package of cake mix. Batter will be lumpy. Spread batter into the prepared pan. Using the back of a spoon, make 15 wells in the batter, 3 rows of 5. In another bowl, beat together the cream cheese and milk until fluffy. Place one tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture into each well. Place 1 apricot half, cut side up, onto each blob of cream cheese.
  • In a small bowl, combine the 1/2 cup of reserved cake mix with the butter. stir in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Stir in the slivered almonds, and sprinkle the mixture evenly over the Danish.
  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the cake comes out clean. To make the glaze, stir together the confectioners' sugar and water until smooth, adding another teaspoon of water if necessary. Drizzle over the Danish when cool.

2 (8 ounce) tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough, divided
1 (8 ounce) can almond paste
1 (8 ounce) container mascarpone cheese
½ cup white sugar
1 large egg, separated, divided
2 ¼ ounces sliced almonds
1 tablespoon white sugar, or as needed
½ cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a 9x13-inch cake pan with parchment paper.
  • Unroll 1 tube of crescent roll dough and spread in the bottom of the prepared pan. Seal the seams of the dough to prevent from separation.
  • Roll almond paste into a thin sheet, large enough to cover your cake pan. Cut edges with a knife or rolling pizza cutter.
  • Combine mascarpone cheese, 1/2 cup white sugar, and egg yolk in the bowl of an electric mixer; mix until thoroughly combined and smooth with no lumps remaining. Spread evenly on top of dough. Place rolled out almond paste on top of cheese mixture.

  • Meanwhile, mix powdered sugar and water for glaze together in a bowl. Drizzle over the top of the cooled Danish and cut.

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup shortening
1 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
FILLING:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon poppy seeds
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
ICING:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/8 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar and salt; cut in shortening until crumbly. Add the yeast mixture, milk and eggs; beat until smooth (dough will be soft). Do not knead. Cover and refrigerate overnight., For filling, in a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar and flour until smooth. Add egg, poppy seeds and extracts; mix until blended., Punch dough down. Turn onto a well-floured surface; divide into thirds. Return two portions to the refrigerator. Roll remaining portion into a 14x8-in. rectangle; place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread a third of the filling down center of rectangle., On each long side, cut 3/4-in.-wide strips, about 2-1/4 in. into the center. Starting at one end, fold alternating strips at an angle across filling. Pinch ends to seal. Repeat with remaining dough and filling. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. , Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on pans on wire racks. Combine icing ingredients; drizzle over coffee cakes.

I have been searching for an almond paste coffee cake recipe since I started cooking/baking (many years now). It's very close to an almond ring my mom bought from a neighborhood bakery, when I was very young.

1 box odense almond paste, grated is the main ingredient
1/2 c plus 2 tablespoons sliced almonds, optional
1/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tsp cinnamon, ground
FOR THE CAKE
1 c cane sugar
1 stick butter
2 eggs
2 tsp almond extract
2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 1/8 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 c sour cream

Steps:

  • 1. 1 10-12 cup bundt pan, greased and floured. Sprinkle sliced almonds on bottom of bundt pan, set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2. Mix grated almond paste, 1/2 cup almonds, brown sugar and cinnamon together. Set aside.
  • 3. In mixing bowl, combine sugar and butter. Beat on high speed for 2 minutes. Add eggs and extract. Beat until batter is light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • 4. Sift flour with baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add flour mixture and sour cream to egg mixture. Beat until combined.
  • 5. Spoon 1/3 of batter into bundt pan. Sprinkle 1/2 of filling on top. Spoon 1/3 batter on filling. Top with remaining filling. Cover filling with remaining batter.
  • 6. Bake 45-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted near middle of cake comes out clean. Cool in pan on wire rack for 15 minutes. Unmold carefully onto wire rack and cool completely. Garnish with powdered sugar or almond icing.

1 egg, separated
1 can (8 oz.) refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
2 tsp. milk
2 Tbsp. sliced almonds, toasted

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375ºF.
  • Mix cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. extract and egg yolk until blended.
  • Unroll crescent dough onto center of baking sheet; press seams and perforations together to seal. Spread cream cheese mixture into 3-inch-wide lengthwise strip down center of dough to within 1/4 inch of short ends.
