Time 5m

Yield 1 cup (approximate)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/4 cup coarse salt (kosher or sea)
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon mustard powder
1/4 cup chili powder
2 tablespoons paprika
1 teaspoon cayenne
2 tablespoons fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Place salt, sugar, mustard powder, chili powder, paprika, cayenne and ground pepper in a bowl and mix together.
  • Store in an airtight jar away from heat and light; it will keep for at least six months.

Nutrition Facts : Calories 280.1, Fat 11, SaturatedFat 1.6, Sodium 28625.2, Carbohydrate 51.2, Fiber 21.3, Sugar 18, Protein 10.2

Tips:

  • Use a variety of spices. The more spices you use, the more complex the flavor of your rub will be. Some good spices to use include paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, and black pepper.
  • Grind your own spices. Pre-ground spices can lose their flavor over time. If you can, grind your own spices fresh for the best flavor.
  • Use a binder. A binder helps to hold the spices together and prevent them from falling off the meat. Some good binders to use include olive oil, mustard, or Worcestershire sauce.
  • Apply the rub evenly. Be sure to apply the rub evenly to all sides of the meat. This will help to ensure that the meat is evenly seasoned.
  • Let the rub sit for a while. The longer the rub sits on the meat, the more time the spices have to penetrate the meat. If you can, let the rub sit for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight.

Conclusion:

This all-purpose BBQ rub is a great way to add flavor to your grilled meats. It's easy to make and can be used on a variety of meats, including chicken, beef, pork, and fish. So next time you're grilling, be sure to try this rub! You won't be disappointed.
