Time 5m

Yield 3/4 cup

Number Of Ingredients 4

1/4 cup coarse salt (kosher or sea)
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1/4 cup sweet paprika
2 tablespoons fresh ground black pepper

Steps:

  • In a small bowl mix all the above ingredients together. A spoon or whisk can be used but clean fingers work best.
  • Pour the rub in an airtight jar and store away from heat and light for up to 6 months.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: Fresh herbs and spices will give your rub the best flavor. If possible, use organic or locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Experiment with different flavors: There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating a barbecue rub. Try using different combinations of herbs, spices, and other ingredients to create a rub that is unique to your taste.
  • Adjust the heat level to your liking: If you like spicy food, add some cayenne pepper or chili powder to your rub. If you prefer a milder flavor, omit the spicy ingredients.
  • Apply the rub liberally: Don't be afraid to use a lot of rub. The more rub you apply, the more flavor your meat will have.
  • Let the meat rest before cooking: This will allow the rub to penetrate the meat and develop its flavor.
  • Cook the meat to your desired doneness: Use a meat thermometer to ensure that the meat is cooked to your liking.

Conclusion:

A good barbecue rub can make all the difference in the flavor of your grilled or smoked meats. By following these tips, you can create a rub that will enhance the natural flavor of your meat and make your next cookout a success.
