JUICY LUCY BURGERS

Juicy Lucy Burgers image

A favorite of Minnesotans! The famous Juicy Lucy! Mmmm. So good. You MUST use American cheese on this to achieve the juiciness in the middle! I like sauteed mushrooms and onions on mine!

Time 25m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¾ teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
4 slices American cheese (such as Kraft®)
4 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • Combine ground beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and pepper in a large bowl; mix well. Form 8, thin patties from the beef. Each patty should be slightly larger than a slice of cheese.
  • Cut each slice of American cheese into 4 equal pieces; stack the pieces. Sandwich one stack of cheese between 2 ground beef patties. Tightly pinch edges together tightly seal the cheese within the meat. Repeat with the remaining cheese and patties.
  • Preheat a cast-iron or other heavy bottomed skillet over medium heat. Cook burgers until well browned, about 4 minutes. It is common for burgers to puff up due to steam from the melting cheese. Turn burgers and prick the top of each to allow steam to escape; cook until browned on the outside and no longer pink on the inside; about 4 minutes. Serve on hamburger buns.

AIR-FRYER BURGERS

Air-Fryer Burgers image

Yet another use for gochujang (Korean red chile paste), which is among my favorite seasonings, in this Korean-inspired dish, which is one of all-time favorite cuisines. But most important, this is yet another way to make burgers that your whole family will enjoy. Serve them with hamburger buns or, for a change, serve with large lettuce leaves for a combination of hot and cold and crunchy that's to die for.

Categories     main-dish

Time 55m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

1/4 cup chopped scallions
2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chile paste)
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
2 teaspoons minced garlic
2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 pound 85-percent lean ground beef
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup chopped scallions
1 tablespoon gochujang (Korean red chile paste)
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
4 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • For the burgers: In a large bowl, mix the scallions, gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger and salt. Use your hands to add in the ground beef and sugar. Divide the meat into four portions and form them into round patties. Marinate at room temperature for 30 minutes, or cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  • Place the patties in a single layer in the air-fryer basket (see Cook's Note). Set the air fryer to 350 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, for the gochujang mayonnaise: Stir together the mayonnaise, scallions, gochujang, sesame oil and sesame seeds.
  • At the end of the cooking time, use a meat thermometer to ensure the burgers have reached an internal temperature of at least 160 degrees F (well-done).
  • To serve, place the burgers on the buns and top with the mayonnaise.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of mushrooms. This will give your burgers a more complex flavor. Some good options include cremini, shiitake, and portobello mushrooms.
  • Make sure the mushrooms are finely chopped. This will help them bind together better and prevent them from falling apart during cooking.
  • Don't overmix the burger mixture. Overmixing can make the burgers tough.
  • Use a large air fryer basket. This will help the burgers cook evenly.
  • Preheat the air fryer before cooking the burgers. This will help them cook faster and more evenly.
  • Cook the burgers until they are golden brown and cooked through. The internal temperature of the burgers should be 160 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the burgers immediately. They are best when eaten fresh.

Conclusion:

Air fryer juicy lucy mushroom burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are packed with flavor and nutrients, and they are easy to make. Whether you are a vegetarian or a meat-eater, you will love these burgers. So next time you are looking for a quick and easy meal, give air fryer juicy lucy mushroom burgers a try. You won't be disappointed!
