½ tsp mixed herbs
½ tsp garlic granules (optional)
4 chicken thighs, bone in
1 tsp olive oil

Steps:

  • Combine the paprika in a bowl with the herbs and garlic granules, if using, together with ½ tsp salt and ½ tsp ground black pepper. Scatter onto a plate. Rub the chicken thighs with the oil, then coat in the spice mix.
  • Put in the basket of your air fryer and cook, skin-side down, for 10 mins at 180C. Turn over and cook for a further 10-15 mins until cooked through and the skin is crispy. Tips:

  • Selecting the right chicken thighs: Choose bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs for the best flavor and texture. Make sure the thighs are evenly sized so they cook evenly.
  • Preparing the buttermilk marinade: The buttermilk marinade is key to tender, juicy chicken. Make sure to use full-fat buttermilk and let the chicken thighs marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Coating the chicken thighs: Dredge the chicken thighs in the seasoned flour mixture until they are evenly coated. Make sure to shake off any excess flour before air frying.
  • Air frying the chicken thighs: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they are not touching. Cook for 12-15 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is golden brown. Flip the chicken thighs halfway through cooking.
  • Serving the chicken thighs: Serve the chicken thighs hot with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a salad.

Conclusion:

Air fryer buttermilk chicken thighs are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that the whole family will enjoy. The buttermilk marinade helps to keep the chicken moist and tender, while the air fryer cooking method results in crispy skin and juicy meat. With just a few simple ingredients and steps, you can have a delicious meal on the table in no time.
