COUNTRY FRIED STEAK
This country fried steak recipe was originally my grandmother's, but I thought it was really bland so I added seasoning to it. Serve it with country gravy and mashed potatoes.

AIR FRYER COUNTRY FRIED STEAK

Steps:
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in onions, sauté 5 minutes. Stir in mushrooms and 1/2-teaspoon salt; sauté 5 more minutes. Remove from heat.
- Season steaks with 1-teaspoon salt and 1/2-teaspoon pepper.
- Arrange three bowls: 1) flour seasoned with remaining 1/2-teaspoon salt and remaining 1/2-teaspoon pepper, 2) milk and egg, 3) cracker crumbs. Dredge beef in seasoned flour, then egg wash, finally coat with cracker crumbs. Spray each cutlet evenly with spray oil.
- Set air fryer to 400°F. Working in two batches, place two breaded cutlets in air fryer; fry 6 minutes. Flip cutlets over; top each with 1/4 of the mushroom and onion mixture, top with two slices of Swiss cheese. Air fry 6 more minutes. Repeat with remaining 2 cutlets and ingredients.
Tips:
- Choose the right cut of steak. For country-fried steak, you'll want to use a thin, tender cut of steak, such as cube steak, round steak, or sirloin steak.
- Tenderize the steak. To make the steak more tender, you can pound it with a meat mallet or use a tenderizing marinade.
- Season the steak. Before you bread and fry the steak, be sure to season it with salt, pepper, and your favorite seasonings.
- Use a light breading. A heavy breading will make the steak greasy and soggy. Instead, use a light breading made with flour, cornmeal, and spices.
- Fry the steak in hot oil. When you fry the steak, make sure the oil is hot enough so that the steak sizzles when it hits the pan. This will help to create a crispy crust.
- Don't overcrowd the pan. When you're frying the steak, don't overcrowd the pan. This will cause the steak to steam instead of fry.
- Cook the steak until it's golden brown. The steak is done cooking when it's golden brown on both sides.
- Serve the steak with your favorite sides. Country-fried steak is traditionally served with mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans.
Conclusion:
Air fryer country-fried steak is a delicious and easy-to-make meal. By following these tips, you can make sure that your steak is tender, juicy, and flavorful. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy weeknight meal, give air fryer country-fried steak a try.
