Time 8h30m

Number Of Ingredients 3

16 ounces Hominy (- or large white corn kernels)
2 ½ tbsp Olive Oil
2 tsp Seasonings

Steps:

  • Prepare your corn (hominy) as described above by soaking them in water overnight. Then allow the corn to dry out on paper towels or a kitchen towel for about a half hour, padding them down as needed.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 400. I like to give my basket a quick spray with nonstick as well.
  • In a large bowl, whisk or use a fork to mix together your seasoning and the oil. Then transfer the kernels to the bowl, tossing them in the oil and seasonings. Use a large spoon to transfer spoonfuls of the kernels to the air fryer basket and then spread them evenly into a flat layer in the basket.
  • Bake the kernels for ten minutes. Shake the basket and continue to bake for another 10-12 minutes or until done. Tip: shake a third time if needed to prevent burning. While your kernels are baking, you can line a baking sheet with a couple of layers of paper towels or clean lint-free kitchen towel. When the kernels are done baking, transfer them to the towels and allow them to cool.

AIR FRYER CORN RIBS

Air Fryer Corn Ribs image

This is my fun take on air-fried elote ribs. Cutting the corn this way causes them to curl up in the shape of ribs once cooked. This also makes the corn a lot easier to handle and eat, not to mention a lot less messy.

Provided by Soup Loving Nicole

Time 25m

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 ears fresh corn, husked
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon chili powder
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ cup mayonnaise
2 teaspoons lime juice
1 teaspoon Mexican-style hot sauce (such as Valentina®)
2 tablespoons crumbled cotija cheese
1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Place an ear of corn on a cutting board and cut in half lengthwise. Cut each half in half lengthwise. Repeat with remaining ear of corn. You should have 8 "ribs" total.
  • Whisk olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, and black pepper together in a bowl until smooth. Brush onto both sides of each rib and place in the air fryer basket.
  • Air fry for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through the cook time.
  • Meanwhile whisk mayonnaise, lime juice, and hot sauce together until thoroughly combined.
  • Transfer corn ribs to a serving plate. Drizzle sauce over the ribs and top with cotija cheese and cilantro.

Tips to Make Perfect Corn Nuts in Air Fryer

- Ensure the corn kernels are dry and free of moisture. Residual moisture could lead to soggy corn nuts. - Use non-GMO, fresh corn kernels for optimum results. - For crispier texture, remove the hulls from the corn kernels before air frying. - Preheat the air fryer for 5 minutes at 350°F (175°C) to ensure even cooking. - Toss the corn kernels in olive oil or melted butter and salt to enhance flavor and texture. - Use a single layer of corn kernels to avoid uneven cooking and steaming. - Shake the air fryer basket halfway through the cooking process to ensure uniform browning. - Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size and type of corn kernels used. Be watchful to avoid burning. - Let the corn nuts cool for a few minutes before serving to allow them to crisp up further.

Conclusion

Air Fryer Corn Nuts are a delightful, healthy, and customizable snack that can be easily enjoyed. With just a few adjustments, you can create perfectly crunchy and flavorful corn nuts every time. Remember to choose high-quality corn kernels, preheat the air fryer, use a single layer, and toss them in seasonings before air frying.
