Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

Nonstick cooking spray
1 pound large shrimp (16/20 count), peeled and deveined, tails on
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 large eggs
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons chopped pickled jalapenos
2 tablespoons whole grain mustard
1 tablespoon ketchup
1 tablespoon hot sauce
1 scallion, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • For the fried shrimp: Spray the basket of a 3.5-quart air fryer with cooking spray and set aside. Pat the shrimp dry between a couple paper towels, then season with a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
  • Whisk the flour with 3/4 teaspoon salt and few grinds of pepper in a shallow bowl or baking dish. Whisk the eggs with a pinch of salt in another shallow bowl. Add the panko to a third shallow bowl. Dip a shrimp in the seasoned flour, shaking off any excess, then dip in the beaten eggs. Dredge in the panko, turning until evenly coated. Transfer to a large plate or a rimmed baking sheet and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 385 degrees F. Working in batches, place some of the shrimp in a single layer in the fryer basket, then spray lightly with more cooking spray. Cook until the shrimp are golden brown and cooked through, flipping halfway through, about 10 minutes.
  • For the spicy remoulade sauce: Meanwhile, stir together the mayonnaise, pickled jalapenos, mustard, ketchup, hot sauce and scallion in a small bowl until smooth. Serve with the fried shrimp for dipping.

AIR FRYER CAJUN SHRIMP

Air Fryer Cajun Shrimp image

Shrimp cook really fast and are on the table in less than 15 minutes. They have just a little kick, so it's perfect for eating by itself, served over rice, or added to tacos, a salad, fajitas, pastas, or incorporated into a sheet pan dinner. The spiciness can be controlled by the amount of Cajun seasoning and cayenne you use.

Tips:

  • Choose the right shrimp. Large to medium-sized shrimp (21-25 count per pound) are best for air frying. Avoid extra-large or jumbo shrimp, as they may not cook evenly and could become tough.
  • Thaw shrimp properly. If using frozen shrimp, thaw them completely before cooking. The easiest way to do this is to place the shrimp in a colander in the sink and run cold water over them for a few minutes. You can also thaw shrimp overnight in the refrigerator.
  • Dry the shrimp thoroughly. Before air frying, pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the air fryer basket.
  • Season the shrimp liberally. Shrimp can easily become bland, so don't be afraid to season them well. You can use a variety of seasonings, such as salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, or Cajun seasoning. You can also add a squeeze of lemon juice or a drizzle of olive oil.
  • Preheat your air fryer. Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 3 minutes before cooking the shrimp. This will help the shrimp cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the basket.
  • Cook the shrimp in a single layer. Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket, or the shrimp will not cook evenly. Cook the shrimp in a single layer so that they have plenty of space to circulate.
  • Shake the air fryer basket halfway through cooking. This will help the shrimp cook evenly. Shake the basket gently so that the shrimp don't stick to each other.
  • Cook the shrimp until they are opaque and slightly pink. The shrimp should be cooked through but still slightly pink in the center. This will take about 5-7 minutes, depending on the size of the shrimp.
  • Serve the shrimp immediately. Air-fried shrimp is best served immediately, while they are still hot and crispy. You can serve them with a variety of dipping sauces, such as tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or remoulade.

Conclusion:

Air frying is a quick and easy way to cook shrimp that results in a delicious and healthy meal. By following these tips, you can air fry shrimp that are perfectly cooked and full of flavor. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy seafood dish, give air-fried shrimp a try!
