AIR-FRYER MOZZARELLA STICKS

Air-Fryer Mozzarella Sticks image

Deep-fried mozzarella sticks are one of our favorite appetizers. I figured out how to make them at home without having to haul out the deep fryer. Make sure to double-bread each one so these air-fryer mozzarella sticks get nice and crunchy, and to keep the cheese from oozing out as they get warm. -Mary Merchant, Barre, Vermont

Tips:

  • Choose the right cheese: For the best results, use fresh, high-quality mozzarella cheese. Avoid using pre-shredded cheese, as it often contains additives that can prevent it from melting properly.
  • Cut the cheese into even-sized pieces: This will help ensure that they cook evenly. If the pieces are too large, they may not cook all the way through, while if they are too small, they may overcook and become tough.
  • Coat the cheese in flour: This will help prevent the cheese from sticking to the air fryer basket. You can also use bread crumbs or panko breadcrumbs for a crispier coating.
  • Preheat the air fryer: This will help the cheese cook more evenly. Most air fryers recommend preheating to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes before cooking.
  • Cook the cheese in batches: If you overcrowd the air fryer basket, the cheese will not cook evenly. Cook the cheese in batches, working in batches of 4-6 pieces at a time.
  • Cook the cheese until it is golden brown and melted: The cooking time will vary depending on the size of the cheese pieces and the type of air fryer you are using. Generally, the cheese will take 3-5 minutes to cook. Keep an eye on the cheese to prevent it from overcooking.

Conclusion:

Air-fried mozzarella cheese bites are a quick, easy, and delicious appetizer or snack. They are perfect for parties or game days, and they can be served with a variety of dipping sauces. With just a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of your time, you can enjoy these cheesy, crispy bites at home.
