Tips:

  • Choose ripe, firm tomatoes: This will ensure that they hold their shape while cooking and won't burst.
  • Hollow out the tomatoes carefully: Use a sharp knife to cut a thin slice off the top of each tomato, then scoop out the pulp and seeds. Be careful not to cut too deeply into the tomato, or it will collapse.
  • Season the tomato shells: Sprinkle the inside of the tomato shells with salt and pepper, or your favorite herbs and spices.
  • Use a flavorful stuffing: The possibilities are endless, but some popular options include rice, ground beef, sausage, vegetables, and cheese.
  • Don't overfill the tomatoes: Leave a little bit of space at the top of each tomato so that the stuffing can expand while cooking.
  • Air fry the tomatoes at a high temperature: This will help to create a crispy crust on the outside of the tomatoes and prevent them from becoming mushy.
  • Serve the tomatoes immediately: They are best enjoyed hot out of the air fryer.
