AFTER THE PARTY IS OVER! REFRESHING DETOX FRESH FRUIT SALAD

After the Party is Over! Refreshing Detox Fresh Fruit Salad image

A wonderful brunch recipe for the morning after or when you need an early boost for a busy day ahead; although this is super healthy and refreshing, I have also served this as the dessert dish for a buffet, BUT with champagne as the liquid instead of orange juice! (Just another idea for dressing this fresh fruit salad up with frills!) This is not only healthy, but it is SO festive and colourful - my photo shows the one I made this Boxing Day (26th December), I usually add kiwi fruit too, but we had run out of them.......oooops! My quantities listed here make enough for 6 to 8 people, but this can be increased as well as reduced to suit personal requirements. I normally serve this with crème fraiche or vanilla yoghurt, but it's also wonderful when served "naked", the salad that is, not me! The fruits I have suggested are rich in vitamins and antioxidants for a quick mental boost, as well as a rapid detox to aid recovery after a heavy night or after indulging in rich food, but please do adapt this to your own seasonal and local produce if you wish.

FRESH FRUIT SALAD

Fresh Fruit Salad image

I was looking for a light meal for brunch and decided to toss every type of fruit I had in the house into a yogurt-based salad for lunch. It went over well with my lunch guest who is a fussy eater. My sister actually asked for seconds. The nice thing about this is you make what you need at the time and don't have to bother with leftovers. However, it does keep well for a few days as long as it is refrigerated. Serve in individual dishes with crackers.

PERFECT SUMMER FRUIT SALAD

Perfect Summer Fruit Salad image

The perfect fruit salad for a backyard bbq or any occasion. There are never leftovers! This is one of my favorite fruit salad recipes, as I think the sauce really makes it. This salad is tastier the longer you can let it soak in its juices. I prefer 3 to 4 hours in the refrigerator before I serve it. Enjoy.

REFRESHING FRESH FRUIT SALAD

Refreshing Fresh Fruit Salad image

This is so simple; it's my favorite fruit salad combination. My grandmother whips this up every holiday and serves it with fresh whipped cream; I like it topped with a sprinkling of granola. So healthy! This is best served about 2 hours after refrigerating. It's good, though, for 2-3 days in the refrigerator, but the banana will turn a little soft. (Cooking time is refrigeration, but you can eat it as soon as you prepare it too)

Time 1h10m

Yield 3 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 large orange
1 apple (I like McIntosh or Johnathan)
1 small banana
1 1/2 cups green grapes
1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Peel the orange, taking the white pith with it, like you would an apple.
  • Slice into the orange along its sections and place in medium bowl.
  • After slicing the orange, you should be left with a slim middle part of the orange; squeeze the juice from this section into the bowl.
  • Peel and dice the apple into small pieces; immediately place in bowl and coat with orange pieces and orange juice.
  • Peel and dice banana; immediately place in bowl and stir to coat (the orange juice will prevent these 2 fruits from turning brown).
  • Slice grapes in half and add to mixture.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and stir.
  • (**Note,I only add the sugar or Splenda if my orange is a little too tart. If it's a sweet orange, you don't need any sugar).
  • **I add blueberries to this if they're in season.

Tips:

  • Utilize Seasonal Fruits: Prioritize fresh, seasonal fruits for optimal flavor and nutritional value.
  • Diversity is Key: Include a variety of fruits to create a colorful and flavorful salad.
  • Balance Flavors: Combine sweet, tart, and tangy fruits for a well-rounded taste experience.
  • Add a Hint of Sweetness: If desired, drizzle honey, agave nectar, or maple syrup over the salad for a touch of sweetness.
  • Enhance with Herbs: Infuse the salad with fresh herbs like mint, basil, or cilantro for an aromatic twist.
  • Keep it Simple: Avoid overcomplicating the salad with excessive ingredients; let the natural flavors shine.
  • Chill for Best Results: Refrigerate the salad for at least 30 minutes before serving for a refreshing and chilled treat.

Conclusion:

Indulge in the goodness of a refreshing detox fruit salad, a perfect way to revitalize and rejuvenate after a celebratory occasion. This salad's vibrant colors and diverse flavors will tantalize your taste buds, while the natural sweetness of the fruits provides a guilt-free treat. Experiment with different combinations of fruits, herbs, and sweeteners to create a unique and satisfying salad that complements your preferences. Whether served as a post-party indulgence or a healthy breakfast option, this detox fruit salad is sure to leave you feeling refreshed, energized, and nourished. So, embrace the power of nature's bounty and relish the goodness of this delightful fruit salad.
