MAPLE BUTTERSCOTCH BROWNIES
Generally, I'll make a double recipe of these brownies-they go so fast no matter where I take them! I've baked them for family dinners and church suppers, and never had any left over. They're very easy besides plus both keep and freeze well. I've been cooking since I was 10. My husband is retired, and we have four grown children.

- Don't overmix the batter, or the brownies will be tough.
- Bake the brownies until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
- Let the brownies cool completely before cutting them into squares.
- For a fudgy brownie, use 1 cup of all-purpose flour instead of 1 ½ cups.
- For a chewier brownie, use 1 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour instead of 1 ½ cups.
