DAD'S SIMPLE STEAK MARINADE

Dad's Simple Steak Marinade image

This recipe is one my father taught me. It is the simplest homemade marinade! Just 5 common ingredients! When used overnight, the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic make flank, skirt and sirloin steaks flavorful and, most importantly, tender for the grill! For more flavor, add Kosher salt and cracked black pepper to your steak while it cooks. Red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar may be substituted for the red wine.

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use a high-quality red wine. A bold, flavorful wine like Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot will work well.
  • Don't over-marinate the steak. 24 hours is the maximum amount of time you should marinate it, or the steak will start to break down.
  • If you don't have time to marinate the steak for 24 hours, you can still get good results by marinating it for a shorter period of time. Just be sure to marinate it for at least 30 minutes.
  • When you're ready to cook the steak, be sure to pat it dry with paper towels. This will help the steak to sear better.
  • Cook the steak over high heat to get a good sear. This will help to lock in the juices and flavor.
  • Let the steak rest for a few minutes before slicing it. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the steak, resulting in a more tender and juicy steak.

Conclusion:

This red wine steak marinade is a delicious and easy way to add flavor to your steak. The combination of red wine, garlic, rosemary, and thyme creates a flavorful marinade that will tenderize and enhance the flavor of the steak. Whether you're grilling, pan-frying, or broiling your steak, this marinade is sure to produce a delicious and memorable meal.
