Tips:

  • Opt for frozen shredded potatoes: They're more flavorful than fresh ones and save you the hassle of grating.
  • Use a food processor to grate the onion: It's quicker and easier than chopping it by hand.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan when cooking the onion and bell pepper: This will prevent them from steaming instead of browning.
  • Use a large skillet or griddle to cook the hash browns: This will give them more surface area to brown and create crispy edges.
  • Press down on the hash browns with a spatula while they're cooking: This will help them cook evenly and prevent them from sticking to the pan.
  • Don't flip the hash browns too often: Let them cook for a few minutes on each side before flipping to ensure they're crispy and golden brown.
  • Use a 9x13 inch baking dish for the casserole: This will ensure that the casserole is not too thick or thin.
  • Layer the ingredients in the casserole dish in the following order: hash browns, cheese, cream of mushroom soup, and milk.
  • Bake the casserole at 350°F for 30-35 minutes: Or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving: This will allow it to set and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

This addicting hash brown casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that's perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. With its crispy hash browns, melted cheese, and creamy sauce, it's sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
