GARLIC AND HERB BREAD

Garlic and Herb Bread image

This is wonderful with spaghetti, lasagna, or another Italian dish, but my family likes it with almost anything. It's very good if made the day before you need it, then split down the middle, buttered, and reheated at mealtime. I use a bread machine, but it can be made without. I like to use the dough cycle, then bake it in a French loaf pan.

Tips:

  • Use a good quality bread for the best results. A crusty bread like a sourdough or French baguette works well.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different types of cheeses. A variety of cheeses will create a more complex and flavorful garlic bread.
  • Fresh herbs are always best, but dried herbs can also be used. If using dried herbs, use about 1/3 of the amount of fresh herbs called for in the recipe.
  • Garlic butter can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a week. This makes it easy to have garlic bread on hand for a quick and easy snack or side dish.
  • Garlic bread can be baked in the oven or cooked on the grill. If cooking on the grill, preheat the grill to medium-high heat and cook the garlic bread for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and melted.

Conclusion:

Garlic bread is a delicious and versatile side dish that can be enjoyed with a variety of meals. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Whether you like it simple or loaded with cheese and herbs, garlic bread is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table.
